2013/2014 SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship


The objective of the scheme is to provide an opportunity for qualifying students from the three Niger Delta States to further their education in courses that are relevant to the oil and gas industry.
In the three years of the programme, 30 students have benefited from the opportunity to study at world-renowned institutions.
For the academic year commencing September 2013, SPDC will award up to ten scholarships for one-year post-graduate studies in partnership with three internationally recognised universities in the United Kingdom (UK) – Imperial College London, University College London and the University of Leeds.
The scholarship will cover tuition fees, one return flight ticket from Nigeria to the UK and a contribution towards living expenses only.
The courses that qualify for the scholarship at the three institutions are as follows:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:
Display intellectual ability and leadership potential meet the university’s language requirement (usually at least 6.5 in IELTS)
Be aged between 21-28 years
Be an indigene of Rivers, Delta or Bayelsa States (documentary proof of this will be required) currently reside in Nigeria intend to return and take up permanent residence in Nigeria after completion of the proposed programme of study have obtained a university degree of at least an equivalent standard to a UK Second Class Upper (Honours Degree) not have studied previously in the UK or any other developed country
HOW TO APPLY
Submit application for admission into any of the three universities for any of the qualifying courses
Application forms for the scholarship will be available ONLY through the participating universities, following an offer of admission
Universities will process application and select candidates to attend an interview before being considered for final selection

(NECO not acceptable) Must not be on a degree awarding programme or its equivalent Must submit a copy of LGA identification

For Non Indigenes:

Applications are also welcome from children/wards of taxpaying non indigenes that have been resident in Rivers State for a minimum of 10years. In addition to the credentials mentioned above, 3 years tax clearance certificate and primary school certificate should be submitted alongside the application.

As part of our Human Resource Development initiatives, NDDC is embarking on Foreign Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme to equip Niger Deltans with relevant training and skills for effective participation in the local content programme of the current administration as well as compete globally in various professional fields. The Scheme is for suitably qualified applicants with relevant Bachelor's/Master's Degree from recognized Universities in the following professional disciplines:

2012/2013 Bayelsa State Post Graduate and Masters Scholarship ProgrammesThe Bayelsa State Scholarship Board was established by an edict of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly/Parliament and signed into law by the then State Governor, Chief Diepreye S. P. Alameyeseigha on May 21,2003.

How to Apply
All interested applicants should:

1. Write a Motivational Essay of not more than one thousand (1000) words in his or her own freehand (hand written), scan and save it on your desktop or flash drive in readiness for attachment, when he or she is requiredto upload it.

2. Scan all needed and relevant documents, evidencing who the applicant is, and save same on the desktop or flash drive in readiness for attachment, when he or she is requiredto upload it.

3. Visit the website of the Bayelsa State Scholarship Board (BSB) – www.bssb-gov.org and go to the Application Portal.

2013/2014 Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme For International Students

Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme For International Students, 2013/2014Scholarship Description: The Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme awards scholarships in China for international students. It is established by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between Chinese government and governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars.

Eligibility:
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2. Education background and age limit:
• Applicants for undergraduate program must have senior high school diploma with good academic performance and be under the age of 25.
• Applicants for master’s degree program must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
• Applicants for doctoral degree program must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
• Applicants for Chinese training program must have senior high school diploma and be under the age of 35, Chinese language is the only subject available.
• Applicants for general scholar program must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study and be under the age of 45, all subjects besides Chinese language are available.
• Applicants for senior scholar program must have master’s degree or above, or hold academic titles of associate professor or above, and be under the age of 50.

Scholarship Worth:
 Full Scholarship
- Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials; and accommodation fee for dormitory on campus;v - Living allowance;
- One-off settlement subsidy after registration for new student;
- Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China;
- One-off inter-city travel subsidy.

 Monthly allowance is granted to the students through the host institution at the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):
- Undergraduates & Chinese language students: CNY 1,400 Yuan
- Master’s degree students & general scholars: CNY 1,700 Yuan
- Doctoral degree students & senior scholars: CNY 2,000 Yuan

Scholarship students shall receive their monthly living allowance after registration.

 New students will get a one-off settlement subsidy upon their arrival in China.
- CNY 1,000 Yuan for new students who will study in China for less than one academic year
- CNY 1,500 Yuan for new students who will study in China for one academic year and above

Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme (Study in UK)


The post graduate scholarship program of Nigeria LNG Limited is an overseas programme aimed at supporting the emergence of indigenous experts especially, but not exclusively, within the oil and gas industry. The Scheme is part of NLNG’s Community Development programme which aims to contribute to long-term socio-economic development in its host communities and Nigeria at large.

70% of the Scholarship places will be awarded to students who hail from NLNG Host Communities and Rivers State.
30% of the Scholarship places will be awarded to
students from other parts of Nigeria.

The scheme will commence in September 2013 and will support 10 students with scholarships to pursue various studies in Engineering, Geosciences,  Environmental Studies, Management Sciences, Information Technology, Law and Medicine at Masters Level with leading universities in the United Kingdom.

Potential beneficiaries of the programme must possess a 2nd Class Upper degree in a relevant field of study and have completed the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme. The Scholarship will cover full tuition fees, a monthly stipend towards living expenses and, one return ticket from Nigeria to the United Kingdom.


British Council Nigeria is responsible for administering the scholarships and is the main point of contact for the scheme.

About Scholarship
The Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) is offered for international students who want to pursue Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Korean Universities. The scholarship is aimed to provide international students with an opportunity to conduct advanced studies at higher educational institutions in Korea, to develop global leaders and strengthen Korea-friendly networks worldwide.

Who is qualified to apply?
Undergraduate program
Prospective applicants must meet the following qualification criteria;
  1. Must be a citizen of the country to which the scholarship is offered, which also applies to the applicants’ parents
  2. Have graduated or will be scheduled to graduate from high school as of March 1st of the invitation year
  3. Must possess above 80% (out of 100%) cumulative grade point average (CGPA), or must be within the top 20% (out of 100%) in rank in high school.
Graduate program
  1. The applicant and his/her parents must hold foreign citizenships.
    * Applicants who hold Korean citizenship are not permitted to apply for this program.
  2. Applicants must be under 40 years of age as of Sep. 1st, 2012 (born after Sep. 1st, 1972).
  3. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of September 1st of the selection year.
    * Applicants who have enrolled in or graduated from a university in Korea are not eligible for the KGSP program. Specifically, applicants who have previously enrolled in or graduated from an undergraduate program, a master’s program, or a doctoral program in Korea cannot apply for this program.
  4. Applicants must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4.3 scale, 2.91 on a 4.5 scale, or grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previously attended institution. If the applicant does not satisfy the above GPA requirements, he/she will be ineligible to apply to this program.
How Many Scholarships are available?
Around 110 undergraduate scholarships and 345 postgraduate scholarships will be awarded in 2013 (based on 2012 awards).
What are the benefits?
Undergraduate Program
  • Airfare: A round-trip economy class ticket
  • Monthly Allowance: 800,000 won per month
  • Relocation (Settlement) Allowance: 200,000 won upon arrival
  • Repatriation Allowance: 100,000 won upon completion of studies
  • Language Training Fee : The full costs up to 1 year
  • Tuition: The tuition fee up to 5 million won is exempted by the Korean
