SPDC (SHELL) Nigeria undergraduate scholarship 2012


shell undergraduate scholarship 2012The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (Operator of the NNPC/SHELL /TEPN/AGIP Joint Venture) Scholarship Scheme offers first year students in all Nigerian universities the opportunity to study with an annual grant from the SPDC JV for the full duration of their course.
The programme aims to promote academic excellence and improve the skills-base among young Nigerians.
WHO CAN APPLY?
The Scholarship is in two categories – the National Merit Award (NM) and the Areas of Operation Merit Award, East or West (OE or OW).
NATIONAL MERIT AWARD (NM)
Open to Nigerians who are not indigenes of SPDC’s operational areas (in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers States).  Applications must be sent in writing using the format below only and sent in an envelope clearly marked 2011/2012 NM Application.
AREAS OF OPERATION MERIT AWARD, EAST (OE)
For Nigerians who are indigenes of SPDC’s operational areas in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Rivers and Bayelsa states (excluding indigenes of Ekeremor and Sagbama local government areas).  Applications must be sent in writing using the format below only and sent in an envelope clearly marked 2011/2012 OE Application. www.nigerianbestforum.com

The following items should be attached to the resume:-
Two recent passport-sized photographs of the applicant (with Name, School & Course written on the back);
University or JAMB (UTME or D/E) Admission Letter;
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) Scores;
‘O’ Level Result(s); and ‘A’ Level /OND /NCE Result(s) as applicable; and
Letter of Identification from State (showing Local Government) of Origin.
Letters of Identification duly stamped and signed by

SPDC does not demand payment from applicants.  The application is entirely FREE of charge.

SPDC’s scholarship programmes are as advertised in national newspapers and on the company website www.shellnigeria.com wherein prospective candidates are advised on the medium of submission of applications.  These applications are then processed by SPDC and the outcome communicated directly to the candidates.

PRESIDENTIAL SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT (PRESSID)

As part of efforts to achieve the goals of Vision 20:2020 and the Transformation Agenda, the Federal Government of Nigeria plans to develop a critical mass of professionals who would serve as catalysts of change and agents of scientific and technological advancement, as well as sustainable economic development. This would be achieved through the sponsorship of outstanding students for postgraduate studies in the top 25 universities in the world. To this end, the Federal Government has instituted the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development.

  Eligibility Criteria for the Scheme
Interested candidates should: -be graduates from the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 academic sessions, who would have completed their National Youth Service by May 2012;

- Must have obtained First Class Honours degree from any recognized and approved University in the following disciplines and aim at postgraduate degrees in the specified and allied disciplines:
Sciences: Nuclear Physics, Operations Research, Industrial Chemistry, Quantitative Genetics, etc
Basic Medical Sciences: Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Biochemistry, etc;
Special Aspects of Biology: Biometrics, Molecular Biology, etc;
Economics: Econometrics, Development Economics, etc;
Engineering & Technology: Aeronautical Engineering, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Material Science and Production Engineering, Nanotechnology, Cyber-Security, Software Engineering, etc;
Medicine: Oncology, Human Genetics, Hepatology, Nuclear Medicine, Geriatrics, etc;

 *In the case of Medicine, candidates must have a minimum of 2 Distinctions in their Part 3 and Part 4 MBBS examinations; In all cases, candidates must: be below 30 years of age by July 2012; be computer literate; and be ready to be bonded and to work, preferably, as academic staff in any public university or research institute for a minimum period of five (5) years.
