About Scholarship
The Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) is offered for international students who want to pursue Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Korean Universities. The scholarship is aimed to provide international students with an opportunity to conduct advanced studies at higher educational institutions in Korea, to develop global leaders and strengthen Korea-friendly networks worldwide.

Who is qualified to apply?
Undergraduate program
Prospective applicants must meet the following qualification criteria;
  1. Must be a citizen of the country to which the scholarship is offered, which also applies to the applicants’ parents
  2. Have graduated or will be scheduled to graduate from high school as of March 1st of the invitation year
  3. Must possess above 80% (out of 100%) cumulative grade point average (CGPA), or must be within the top 20% (out of 100%) in rank in high school.
Graduate program
  1. The applicant and his/her parents must hold foreign citizenships.
    * Applicants who hold Korean citizenship are not permitted to apply for this program.
  2. Applicants must be under 40 years of age as of Sep. 1st, 2012 (born after Sep. 1st, 1972).
  3. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of September 1st of the selection year.
    * Applicants who have enrolled in or graduated from a university in Korea are not eligible for the KGSP program. Specifically, applicants who have previously enrolled in or graduated from an undergraduate program, a master’s program, or a doctoral program in Korea cannot apply for this program.
  4. Applicants must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4.3 scale, 2.91 on a 4.5 scale, or grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previously attended institution. If the applicant does not satisfy the above GPA requirements, he/she will be ineligible to apply to this program.
How Many Scholarships are available?
Around 110 undergraduate scholarships and 345 postgraduate scholarships will be awarded in 2013 (based on 2012 awards).
What are the benefits?
Undergraduate Program
  • Airfare: A round-trip economy class ticket
  • Monthly Allowance: 800,000 won per month
  • Relocation (Settlement) Allowance: 200,000 won upon arrival
  • Repatriation Allowance: 100,000 won upon completion of studies
  • Language Training Fee : The full costs up to 1 year
  • Tuition: The tuition fee up to 5 million won is exempted by the Korean
  • Government, and if any, the tuition fee exceeding 5 million won and the entrance fee for the first semester by the host university
  • Medical Insurance: The grantees will be provided with health insurance for major accidents and illnesses during their scholarship period.
Graduate Program
  • Airfare: A round-trip economy class ticket
  • Monthly Allowance: 900,000 won per month
  • Relocation (Settlement) Allowance: 200,000 won upon arrival
  • Language Training Fee : The full costs up to 1 year
  • Tuition: All admission fees are waived by the host institution. The full tuition is paid by NIIED.
  • Medical Insurance: 20,000 won per month(limited insurance coverage) will be provided to the university for students.
  • Research Allowance: 210,000 won for students in human and social sciences; 240,000 won for students in natural and mechanic sciences per semester
  • Dissertation Printing Costs: 500,000 ~ 800,000 won for the costs related to a printing dissertation
Special Allowance for ALL students proficient in Korean language (TOPIK level 5 or 6): 100,000 won per month
How long will sponsorship last?
Undergraduate course: 1 year Korean language course + 4 year bachelors course
Master’s course: 1 year of Korean language + 2 years of Master’s course
Doctoral course: 1 year of Korean language + 3 years of Doctoral course

MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship (MTNF) 2012/2013

MTN scholarship 2012/2013 is out.

The MTN Nigeria Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship has been on for some years. Applicants are to read the terms and conditions before applying. The aptitude test for the MTN Nigeria Foundation Scholarship 2012/2013 would be conducted in three centers, North, East and West. 1500 students would be shortlisted for the aptitude test.
After the aptitude test, 500 successful students out of the 1500 who sat for the MTN foundation scholarship examination would be selected for the  2012/2013 MTN scholarship awards. The scholarship is also renewable if a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or second class upper maintained.

  • Applicants from public Universities and Colleges of Education in Nigeria must be full time undergraduates in 200 level/2nd year.

  • Applicants from public Polytechnics must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) programme and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma programme (HND).
  • Direct entry level students must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the OND programme and must have secured admission into 200 level/2nd year in a public University

Yakubu Gowon Foundation (YGF) Essay Competition for 2012 NYSC Members.


The Yakubu Gowon Foundation (YGF) is organizing its 2012 national essay competition for serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
The essay competition, which was part of the activities to commemorate the 78th birthday of the former Head of State, Dr Yakubu Gowon, would be organized in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency and NYSC directorate.

1st prize:  N300,000

2012 Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Essay Competition


The 11th NSE Annual Essay Competition for Students in Secondary and Tertiary institutions in Nigerian 2012
Introduction
The Nigerian Stock Exchange is pleased to announce the commencement of the 11th edition of the Annual National Essay Competition for secondary and tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The competition’s overall goal is to develop a culture of wealth creation amongst our youth – ‘Catching Them Young’. This landmark initiative continues to be guided by the following key objectives:
  • Expose the young ones to the operations of the stock market;
  • Develop a culture of medium and long-term investment habit among the youth;
  • Expose the students to career choices in the securities market and related professions;
  • Fill some gaps between school curriculum and practical approach to investing in the stock market.

  • The Essay competition is open for two categories; students in senior secondary school and tertiary institutions in Nigeria

UBA National Essay Competition (up to N2.25million to be won)


UBA Foundation, through its Annual National Essay Competition, is offering another opportunity for Senior Secondary school students in Nigeria to win university educational grants.
This follows the commencement of the UBA Foundation National Essay Competition among senior secondary school students, organized by the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the United Bank for Africa (UBA), where up to 2.25million naira will be given to three winners.

Obafemi Awolowo Leadership Prize; Call for Designs



INVITATION TO SUBMIT DESIGNS FOR THE PRIZE CERTIFICATE, MEDAL AND PLAQUE

The Obafemi Awolowo Foundation recently instituted the Obafemi Awolowo Leadership Prize and the process has commenced towards hosting the maiden award on, or around March 6, 2013.
The Foundation has decided to open the designs for the Award Certificate, Medal and Plaque to competition and is, therefore, calling on interested artists to submit such designs, which will be critically adjudged by an expert Art Selection Committee, made up of some of the most accomplished Nigerian artists, after which the winning designs will be selected.
By way of explanation, we envisage that the Medal will be cast in metal and the Plaque can be made of glass, Perspex or wood. The Certificate will be an original painting on high quality art paper.
Artists of all ages and varying accomplishments are welcome to participate in the competition and the winners will be given modest cash prizes. More than the financial reward, however, is the honour that being the creators of the designs on the symbols of the Obafemi Awolowo Leadership Prize will confer upon the winners, in perpetuity. The selection of the winning designs will be given maximum publicity.
We, therefore, invite the participation of all students of creative arts, as well as professional artists, in what promises to be an interesting, exciting and epoch-making contest.
