2012/2013 Bayelsa State PostGraduate and Masters Scholarship Programmes

2012/2013 Bayelsa State Post Graduate and Masters Scholarship ProgrammesThe Bayelsa State Scholarship Board was established by an edict of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly/Parliament and signed into law by the then State Governor, Chief Diepreye S. P. Alameyeseigha on May 21,2003.

How to Apply
All interested applicants should:

1. Write a Motivational Essay of not more than one thousand (1000) words in his or her own freehand (hand written), scan and save it on your desktop or flash drive in readiness for attachment, when he or she is requiredto upload it.

2. Scan all needed and relevant documents, evidencing who the applicant is, and save same on the desktop or flash drive in readiness for attachment, when he or she is requiredto upload it.

3. Visit the website of the Bayelsa State Scholarship Board (BSB) – www.bssb-gov.org and go to the Application Portal.

4. Finally, apply and attach all relevant documents and submit.

Note:
i. If you are unable to finish the application form in one sitting, do not worry. You still have an opportunity to complete the application from whereveryou have stopped, at a later time.
ii. However, please note that the closingdate of the Application and buckle up to complete and submit it.
iii. Online Application is compulsory for all Applicants, including those applicants,who had earlier submitted manual/hard copies to the Scholarship Board.
iv. The Scholarship Board has deployed Electronic Scholarship Management System Facilities.
v. It is therefore necessary/compulsoryfor all applicants to comply.
vi. Only applications for Scholarship which has submitted online shall be considered, processed and forwarded to the relevant State Government Authorities for Approval.

2013/2014 Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme For International Students

Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme For International Students, 2013/2014Scholarship Description: The Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme awards scholarships in China for international students. It is established by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between Chinese government and governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars.

Eligibility:
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2. Education background and age limit:
• Applicants for undergraduate program must have senior high school diploma with good academic performance and be under the age of 25.
• Applicants for master’s degree program must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
• Applicants for doctoral degree program must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
• Applicants for Chinese training program must have senior high school diploma and be under the age of 35, Chinese language is the only subject available.
• Applicants for general scholar program must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study and be under the age of 45, all subjects besides Chinese language are available.
• Applicants for senior scholar program must have master’s degree or above, or hold academic titles of associate professor or above, and be under the age of 50.

Scholarship Worth:
 Full Scholarship
- Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials; and accommodation fee for dormitory on campus;v - Living allowance;
- One-off settlement subsidy after registration for new student;
- Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China;
- One-off inter-city travel subsidy.

 Monthly allowance is granted to the students through the host institution at the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):
- Undergraduates & Chinese language students: CNY 1,400 Yuan
- Master’s degree students & general scholars: CNY 1,700 Yuan
- Doctoral degree students & senior scholars: CNY 2,000 Yuan

Scholarship students shall receive their monthly living allowance after registration.

 New students will get a one-off settlement subsidy upon their arrival in China.
- CNY 1,000 Yuan for new students who will study in China for less than one academic year
- CNY 1,500 Yuan for new students who will study in China for one academic year and above

Scholarship Application Deadline: The deadline for the Chinese Government scholarship is Jan - April 2013 (annual).

The Aptitude Test is scheduled to take place as follows:
Date: Saturday 17 November, 2012.

Venues:
  • Abuja: National Centre for Women Development, Better Life Street, Central Area, Garki, Abuja.
  • Enugu: Command Day Secondary School, Abakpa Military Cantonment, Enugu.
  • Lagos: A.D.R.A.O. International School, 28 Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island.
  • Port Harcourt: Command Secondary School, Bori Camp, Port Harcourt.
  • Warri 1: Main Office Restaurant, SPDC., (Opp. Fed. Govt. College), Warri.
    Warri 2: Ogunu School Hall, SPDC Residential Area, Ogunu.
Accreditation Time: 7.30am – 9.45am prompt
Aptitude Test Time: 10.00am prompt.
Shortlisted students are advised to bring their invitation for aptitude test emails, writing materials (including HB pencils and erasers), Braille typewriter (if applicable), a recent passport photograph and their university identification card to the exam venue.
They are also required to bring the originals and a set of photocopies of ALL of the following:
  1. WASC / GCE ‘O’ Level / SSCE Statement of Result.
  2. A’ Level / NCE / IJMB / Remedial Result (if applicable)
  3. Notification of JAMB Result
  4. JAMB or University Admission Letter
  5. Endorsement letters from Community Development / Executive Council Chairman and Paramount Ruler (if applicable)
PLEASE NOTE
All invitation letters have been dispatched both to students’ email and the university addresses.
In case you do not receive the letter sent to your university address before the test date, please come to the test venue with a copy of your email invitation, and ALL the items mentioned.

Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme (Study in UK)


The post graduate scholarship program of Nigeria LNG Limited is an overseas programme aimed at supporting the emergence of indigenous experts especially, but not exclusively, within the oil and gas industry. The Scheme is part of NLNG’s Community Development programme which aims to contribute to long-term socio-economic development in its host communities and Nigeria at large.

70% of the Scholarship places will be awarded to students who hail from NLNG Host Communities and Rivers State.
30% of the Scholarship places will be awarded to
students from other parts of Nigeria.

The scheme will commence in September 2013 and will support 10 students with scholarships to pursue various studies in Engineering, Geosciences,  Environmental Studies, Management Sciences, Information Technology, Law and Medicine at Masters Level with leading universities in the United Kingdom.

Potential beneficiaries of the programme must possess a 2nd Class Upper degree in a relevant field of study and have completed the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme. The Scholarship will cover full tuition fees, a monthly stipend towards living expenses and, one return ticket from Nigeria to the United Kingdom.


British Council Nigeria is responsible for administering the scholarships and is the main point of contact for the scheme.

Completed application forms, along with a scanned coloured passport photograph of the applicant should be submitted via email to nlngpgscholarship@ng.britishcouncil.org

Only applications submitted through the above email will be considered. Exceptions will only be given to applicants with 'special needs'.
Application deadline is 12 noon on Friday, 16th November 2012. Applications submitted after this time will not be accepted.
