2015/2016 Romanian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students

Romanian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students, 2015-2016Applications are invited for Romanian Government scholarships available for citizens of non EU countries. Up to 85 scholarships are awarded for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Romania. The monthly amount is granted to the students of the 1st (licenta) and 2nd (master) cycle throughout the whole academic year, the winter and spring vacation included, but not during the summer vacation. For full-time students of the 3rd cycle (doctorate), the monthly amount is granted throughout the whole calendar year. The deadline for submitting the application files is established by each diplomatic mission.


The application deadline Foreign diplomatic missions is 15 March 2015.

Study Subject(s): Priority will be given to the candidates applying for: political and administrative sciences, education studies, Romanian culture and civilization, journalism, technical studies, oil and gas, agricultural studies, veterinary medicine, architecture, music, arts, music.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Romania.

Scholarship Description:
Romanian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students, 2015-2016
Scholarships offered by the Romanian State to foreign citizens through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in keeping with Government Decision No 288/1993 for the 2015- 2016 academic year. 85 scholarships for under- and post-graduate studies in Romania, by means of selection of application files organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Ministry of National Education (MNE), in keeping with Romanian current legislation. Citizens of non EU countries (irrespective of their country of residence). Priority is given to citizens from non EU states with which Romania does not have cultural and education cooperation agreements. Mention should be made that foreign citizens of Romanian origin and those belonging to the neighbouring historic Romanian communities benefit from other scholarship programmes offered by the Romanian state. The scholarships are granted for three levels of study:

-for the first cycle (licenta): This scheme is dedicated to graduates of high schools or of equivalent pre-university systems, as well as to candidates who require the equivalent of partial studies and the continuation of their studies in Romania. The complete cycle of university studies lasts for 3 to 6 years, according to the specific requirements of the chosen faculty, and ends with a final examination (licenta);
-for the 2nd cycle (master): This scheme is dedicated to graduates of university/post graduate studies; it lasts for 1,5 to 2 years and ends with a dissertation;
-for the 3rd cycle (doctorate): this scheme is dedicated to the graduates of university/postgraduate studies (i.e. master); it lasts for 3-4 years, in keeping with the specific requirements of the chosen faculty, and ends with a doctor’s thesis.

Number of award(s): Up to 85 Romanian government scholarships are awarded.
Duration of award(s): The monthly amount is granted to the students of the 1st (licenta) and 2nd (master) cycle throughout the whole academic year, the winter and spring vacation included, but not during the summer vacation. For full-time students of the 3rd cycle (doctorate), the monthly amount is granted throughout the whole calendar year. The scholarships will be suspended if the student in any education cycle repeats a year due to poor results. It may be resumed in the following academic year, after the student has successfully graduated the repeated year. The students who repeat an academic year must pay the full study fees and accommodation. The number of scholarship years will not be bigger than the respective education cycle.
What does it cover? The scholarship consists of :
-free-of-charge tuition,
-free-of-charge accommodation (depending on availability, accommodation will be offered free-of-charge in students hostels, in keeping with the higher education regulations and within the limits of the sums available for this purpose),
-financial support – a monthly amount representing :
-the equivalent in Romanian currency of 65 EURO per month, for the under-graduate students (1st cycle),
-the equivalent in Romanian currency of 75 EURO per month, for post-graduate students (master degrees and specialization) 2nd cycle
-the equivalent in Romanian currency of 85 EURO per month, for post graduate students (doctor’s degree) 3rd cycle.
-These scholarships do not cover food, international and local transport. The candidates must be prepared to support personally any other additional expenses.
Selection Criteria: The selection criteria are: the candidates’ competence (former scholar performances, mentioned in his/her study papers) and the chosen priority field of study. The Boards will approve the list of 85 accepted candidates and a waiting list, in case any selected candidates give up the scholarship.
Notification: The selection results will be announced by 25 June 2015 to each diplomatic mission that submitted application files.
How to Apply: To get all necessary information about the scholarships (conditions, necessary documents, enrolment calendar) and to submit their application files, the candidates should apply directly to:
– the Romanian diplomatic missions accredited to the candidate’s country of origin or of residence or to
– the diplomatic mission of candidate’s state of origin accredited to Bucharest
Application files submitted by post or directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) or to the Ministry of National Education (MNE), as well as application files received after the announced deadline will not be taken into consideration. Applications files should contain documents in English or French language. If the application files contain documents in other foreign languages than English or French, they must be accompanied by authorized translations in one of the following languages: Romanian, English or French. Generally, Romanian universities may require that all enrolment documents should be accompanied by authorized copies and authorized translations in Romanian. It is of utmost importance to fill in correctly all forms. Foreign diplomatic missions accredited to Bucharest must send the application files with a Verbal Note to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Public, Cultural and Scientific Diplomacy Directorate (MFA – PCSDD).

Scholarship Application Deadline: The deadline for submitting the application files is established by each diplomatic mission. The candidate should enquire at the diplomatic mission about the enrolment calendar, starting 3 December 2014. The application deadline for Foreign diplomatic missions is 15 March 2015.

YouWin Business Competition - YouWin 4

YouWiN! stands for Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria. It is an innovative business plan competition aimed at job creation by encouraging and supporting aspiring entrepreneurial youth in Nigeria to develop and execute business ideas. The accomplishments of the 1,200 YouWiN! awardees were celebrated at the Presidential Villa on April 12, 2012. YouWiN! Women was the second edition of the entrepreneurial scheme, which was designed for only female entrepreneurs aged 45 years or less. The third edition, YouWiN! 3, which support both male and female entrepreneurs in Nigeria, recently announced the 1500 awardees. With the upcoming launch of YouWiN! 4, the President of Nigeria will have fulfilled his promise to financially support over 3,600 Nigerian youths to develop their entrepreneurial ideals and plans through the YouWiN! program. YouWiN! 4 is open to both male and female entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 - 45 years. 

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Business Plan Competition you must satisfy the following criteria
  • You must be a proven citizen of Nigeria no older than 45 years (proof of identity: International passport/Drivers License/National ID/Voters card required)
  • You must have a post-secondary school qualification
  • Your proposed business venture must be within the national borders of Nigeria, and with the intention of employing Nigerian citizens.
  • Your proposed venture must not entail the production or distribution of weapons, alcoholic beverages, tobacco or/and gambling, or any activities in contradiction with the Nigerian constitution
  • You must prepare an innovative business concept summary
You must choose to participate in one award pool. There are 6 regional pools on the basis of geo-political zone as identified by market in which you want to do business.

2015 NLNG Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme.

Nigeria LNG Limited is pleased to call for applications from qualified candidates into the NLNG Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme for entry into Masters Programmes in the United Kingdom in September 2015. The scheme is administered by British Council Nigeria.

Criteria for Award
Potential beneficiaries must:
be entering into a Masters programme in Engineering, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, Management Science, Information Technology, Law and Medicine
possess a 2nd Class Upper degree in a relevant field of study
have completed the NYSC programme
be no more than 30 years of age
be Nigerian nationals resident in Nigeria
provide identification documents from their L.G.As
must possess an international passport valid for travel at least one year from September 2015
provide evidence that they are available to travel in September 2015 if selected.

Completed application form, along with an attached colour passport photograph of applicant should be submitted via email to nlngpgscholarship@nq.britishcouncil.org

Please do not attach any documents to the completed application form. Only application forms accompanied by a single passport photograph will be considered.

Applications into the Nigeria LNG Post Graduate Scholarship Scheme will be received only via email; if you do not have regular access to the internet, you can download the form onto your personal computer and email it back after you have completed it. Only applications sent to nlngpgscholarship@ng.britishcouncil.org will be considered.
Exceptions will only be given to applicants with 'special needs'

Application deadline is midnight on Friday, 21st November 2014.
Applications received after this time will not be accepted.

The Selection Process
Candidates whose application are successful will be invited to sit for a test. On the basis of the results of the test, applicants will be invited for interviews from which the final selection will be made.

2014 SPDC JOINT VENTURE UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP AWARD SCHEME


The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (Operator of the NNPC/SHELL /TEPN/AGIP Joint Venture) Scholarship Scheme offers first year students in all Nigerian universities the opportunity to study with an annual grant from the SPDC JV for the full duration of their course. The programme aims to promote academic excellence and improve the skills of young Nigerian, reports.

Requirements/Eligibility:

The merit-based scholarship is in two categories – the National Merit Award (NM) and the Areas of Operation Merit Award, East or West (OE or OW).

1. National Merit Award (NM) Open to all Nigerians.

2. Areas of Operation Merit Award, East (OE) For Nigerians who are indigenes of SPDC’s operational area in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Rivers and Bayelsa states (excluding indigenes of Ekeremor and Sagbama local government areas). Areas of Operation Merit Award, West (OW) For Nigerians who are indigenes of SPDC’s operational area in Bayelsa (i.e. of Ekeremor and Sagbama local government areas) and Delta States.

Eligible Applicants must:

i. Be citizens of Nigeria, currently enrolled in an accredited and approved university in Nigeria.

ii. Have gained admission during the 2013/2014 academic session, and pursuing a first degree programme.

iii. Have a minimum of seven credits, including Mathematics and English, in their O/Levels.

iv. Be enrolled full‐time, in a university in Nigeria at the undergraduate level with a minimum grade point average of 3.5 at the time of application (attach transcripts or official records).

All applicants should have their personal valid email account (for consistent communication). Candidates who meet the above entry qualifications should apply online, at www.scholastica.ng/schemes/spdc to provide the required personal and educational details, and load scanned copies of the following:

• A recent passport-sized photograph of the applicant (i.e. jpeg format, not more than 200kilobytes);

• University or JAMB (UTME or D/E) Admission Letter;

• Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) Scores;

• ‘O’ Level Result(s); and ‘A’ Level /OND /NCE Result(s) as applicable; and

• Letter of Identification from State (showing Local Government) of Origin.

Scanned copies of letters of identification, (which must be duly stamped and signed) by:

2015/2016 Pressid Scholarship Award Form is out. The Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development (PRESSID) Implementation Committee now invites applications from qualified candidates for the 2015/2016 academic session (third edition) scholarship award of the scheme.
As part of efforts to achieve the goals of Vision 20:2020 and the Transformation Agenda, the Federal Government of Nigeria plans to develop a critical mass of professionals who would serve as catalysts of change and agents of scientific and technological advancement, as well as sustainable economic development.
This would be achieved through the sponsorship of outstanding students for postgraduate studies in the top 28 universities in the world. To this end, the Federal Government has instituted the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development.

Eligibility/Criteria for Application:

Interested candidates should be graduates from the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 academic sessions, who would have completed their National Youth Service by October 2014.They must have obtained First Class Honours degree from any recognised and approved University in the following disciplines and aim at postgraduate degrees in the specified and allied disciplines:
1)Sciences: Nuclear Physics, Operations Research, Industrial Chemistry, Quantitative Genetics, etc;
2) Basic Medical Sciences: Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Biochemistry, etc;
3) Special Aspects of Biology: Biometrics, Molecular Biology, etc;
4) Economics: Econometrics, Development Economics, etc;
5) Engineering & Technology: Aeronautical Engineering, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Material Science and Production Engineering, 6) Nanotechnology, Cyber-Security, Software Engineering, etc;
7) Medicine: Oncology, Human Genetics, Hepatology, Nuclear Medicine, Geriatrics, etc.
Exceptions: In the case of Medicine, candidates must have a minimum of 2 Distinctions in their Part 3 and Part 4 MBBS examinations;
In all cases, candidates must:
i) be below 30 years of age by October 2014;
ii) be computer literate; and
iii) be ready to be bonded and to work, preferably, as academic staff in any public university or research institute for a minimum period of five (5) years.

2014 Gani Fawehinmi Annual Scholarship Awards

The Chief Gani Fawehinmi Annual Four (4) Million Naira Scholarship Awards For Forty (40) Students is open for application.

Applications are invited for Gani Fawehinmi Annual Scholarship Awards 2014. The Awards will cover 2013 and 2014. The award is for 40 (Forty) students each of whom will receive One hundred Thousand Naira (N100, 000.00) making a total sum of Four Million Naira (N4,000 000.00).

 

Criteria For Chief Gani Fawehinmi Scholarship Award 2014

(1)    Applicants must be poor and indigent
(2)    Applicants must be registered students of tertiary institutions in nigeria i.e Universities, polytechnicsand colleges of education.
(3)    Applicants must have good academic performance

Mode Of Application For Chief Gani Fawehinmi Scholarship Award 2014

Each applicant shall submit an applicaton form, not more than two (2) pages. The letter must include the following:
  • Name of the candidate
  • Course and year of study
  • State of origin and
  • Reason the candidate believes he or she deserves the scholarship award
The application letter must be accomplished by:
i.            A photocopy of the candidate’s current identity card;
ii.            A letter from the candidate’s current Head of Department, including correct information on the candidate’s CGPA for the last academic session.
iii.            A letter from the registrar certifying that the candidate is a student of the institution
iv.            A copy of the candidate’s registration form for the current semester and

DRD (DAAD) Scholarships for Sub-Saharan Africans

Full scholarships for students

For applicants from Sub-Saharan African countries with an excellent academic record the DRD offers a limited number of DAAD merit scholarships per year.
Scholarships are available for full-time students of
Scholarships include monthly allowances of 650 Euro plus travel allowances for Master candidates and 900 Euro plus travel allowances for PhD candidates. More information about requirements for application and application procedure is provided below.
Requirements for application and application procedure
  • Scholarship applicants are adviced to carefully read about the specific entry requirements and course application procedure of the programme of their choice. The information is available from the respective programmes sections. In addition to programme requirements, all applicants have to meet the following requirements:
  • Applicants should be from Sub-Sahara Africa
  • Applicants should have an outstanding academic record - at least 70% for your last degree
  • Applicants should apply within 3 years of having completed their previous degree
  • The study must have been completed at an internationally recognised university
  • The previous degree (Baccalaureus or Master) should have been an academic discipline which is related to Development Studies or Public Administration
  • South African students are required to have an honours degree in order to be admitted to a Masters degree course. Other students need the equivalent of a 4 year undergraduate degree
  • Applicants must provide evidence of proficiency in English, both written and spoken. This can be TOEFL test or a similar standard test or a letter from an academic institution
  • Work and/or voluntary experience in your field of interest would be a recommendation
  • Women are encouraged to apply
  • South African students are encouraged to apply
  • Applicants must be able to study fulltime at the UWC for the required period.
You will have to fill in an electronic application form (ONLY AVAILABLE FROM 15th APRIL ON)! Applications not using this e-form can´t be considered! As the e-form can only be submitted once, please make sure that your application is complete before submitting it!

  • MA applicants will have to write a one page paper about 1 of the following 4 topics:
1 François Bourguignon, a former Chief Economist of the World Bank referred to the "poverty growth inequality triangle": Discuss this comment, critically evaluating the role of inequality in the current study of development in Africa.
2 Write critically on perceptions about governance in Sub Saharan Africa.
3 It has been claimed that climate change could potentially interrupt progress toward a world without hunger. Consider the evidence for this claim and discuss how climate change might impact on food security.
4 Discuss the relationship between social movements and civil society in a specific SSA country of your choice.

  • PhD applicants are asked to also submit a 6 page proposal on the research they would want to undertake for the thesis. This should include their research question, the research methodology and a (provisional) theoretical framework. A list of topics is given in the PhD section.
  • Additional to the e-form, two signed references (one academic, one professional) are independently to be submitted via email to cdrscholars@gmail.com. REFERENCES not being submitted TO THIS EMAIL address CAN'T BE CONSIDERED!!!
  • Candidates for the Masters Programme in Public Administration (MPA), the MA in Development Studies as well as PhD candidates in the fields of Governance, Public Policy, Public Management or Development Studies can submit their scholarship application without needing to apply for admission at UWC. If they are awarded a scholarship, or if they intend to finance themselves, they may apply for admission through the online application procedure (www.uwc.ac.za).

    Scholarships for a study period in Germany
    Apart from full scholarships for participation in one of the above mentioned programmes a number of mobility scholarships for Master students are available each year. These scholarships are aimed at funding a study period in Germany. During such a study period abroad scholarship holders can participate in a Summer School at Ruhr-Univeristy Bochum, complete an internship with a German organization working in the field related to their studies or they can visit Ruhr-Univeristy Bochum during the completion phase of their Master Thesis for intensive supervision periods.
    It is not necessary to apply for mobility scholarships before starting your studies. The application procedure for mobility scholarships will instead be announced to participants of the cooperating programmes.

2014/2015 (AGIP) NNPC/NAE/OANDO POST GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD SCHEME

Nigerian Agip Exploration Limited (NAE), on behalf of the NNPC/NAE/OANDO PSC, is committed to the training and development of manpower as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.In pursuance of this, NAE invites applications from suitably qualified and interested Nigerian graduates for the 2014/2015 Post Graduate Scholarship Award Scheme. The award is in two categories – Nigerian and Overseas.

ELIGIBILITY

2014 MTN Scholarship

MTN (MTN Foundation) invites applications from eligible students from across the country for its 2014 Scholarship program.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • Applicants from public Universities and Colleges of Education in Nigeria must be full time undergraduates in 200 level/2nd year.
  • Applicants from public Universities and Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.5 or its equivalent (2:1)
  • Applicants from public Polytechnics must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) programme and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma programme (HND).

Addax Petroleum Development (Nig) Limited invites qualified candidates for its 2014/2015 National Merit Tertiary Institutions Scholarship Awards Scheme.

2014 NWAG Scholarships


Each year the Nigerian Women Association of Georgia -NWAG- offers undergraduate Scholarships for 37 Nigerian female students in Nigerian universities on any course of study.
In 2014 NWAG plans to award 37 one-time scholarships, one per state of origin as well as one for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in the amount of fifty thousand Naira (N50,000) each, to Nigerian female, undergraduate students in Nigerian universities.

2014/2015 BILATERAL EDUCATIONAL AGREEMENT (BEA) SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

The Honourable Minister of Education, Chief (Barr.) Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, is hereby inviting interested and qualified Nigerians to participate in the 2014/2015 Nomination Interview for Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Awards for:
 i) Undergraduate(UG) studies tenable in Russia, Cuba, Morocco, Algeria, Romania, Ukraine, Turkey, Egypt, Japan, Serbia, Macedonia

ii) Postgraduate (PG) studies tenable in Russia, China, Turkey, Japan, Serbia, Mexico, e.t.c

 FIELDS OF STUDY
a. Undergraduate level – Medicine, Engineering, Geology, Agriculture, Sciences, Mathematics,Languages, Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social  Sciences, etc
b. Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and Ph.D) in all fields

CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

A. UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs)  in the Senior Secoundary School Certificate, WAEC or NECO (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English Language and  Mathematics. Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old (2012 or 2013). Age limit is 22 years.

B. POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants must hold a First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division. The applicants who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria. A knowledge of the Foreign language of the donor country is desired particularly for those applying for Russian Award. All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Age limit is 35 years for Masters  and 40 years for Ph.D.
NOTE (For all Applicants): Knowledge of the language of the country of choice is an added advantage.

VENUE OF INTERVIEW: All eligible applicants are to report for interview at the venues scheduled for their respective zones of origin.Two sets of completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centres with the following attachments:
i. Two authenticated photocopies of educational certificates and testimonial
ii. Only one certificate will be accepted ie WAECO or NECO ( May/June) only
iii. Statement of results must be confirmed by WAEC or NECO and forwarded to the Director/ Secretary, Federal Scholarship Board, Abuja.
iv. Two copies of Birth certificate.
v. State of origin certificate duly signed, stamped and dated.
vi. Eight (8) passport sized coloured photographs on white background
vii. Data page of current International Passport. and
viii. Academic transcripts and NYSC certificates will be required from applicants for postgraduate studies

Original documents should be presented at the interview venues for sighting.

Applicants are strongly advised to attend the interview at their zones of origin.
NB: Candidates nominated and finally selected by the awarding BEA countries will be required to submit to Federal Scholarship Board the following:
i) Authenticated copies of academic certificates
ii) Medical certificate of Fitness including HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B free certificates and chest x-ray from a Teaching Hospital, General Hospital or National Hospital, Abuja.
OR, any Hospital as designated by the awarding country.
iii) Police clearance certificate with finger prints ( on request)

BEA Countries

These countries are responsible for the tuition and accommodation, while Nigeria government takes care of the following;

  • $1000 for PG research grant yearly were applicable
  • N100,000 – Take off for PG scholars were applicable
