The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) is the umbrella organization of all Information Technology Professionals, Interest Groups and Stakeholders in Nigeria. Formed in 1978 as Computer Association of Nigeria (COAN); and Transformed into NCS in 2002 as a result of harmonization with other stakeholder and interest groups. NCS is the national platform for the advancement of Information Technology Science and Practice in Nigeria

2017 Bode Amao Foundation (BAF) Scholarship Award

Bode Amao Foundation (BAF) is a non-profit organization, founded in 2002, funded by Chief Bode Amao OON, and dedicated to the service of humanity and glory to God. BAF has so far supported 143 students in twenty two (22) Universities from year of award to graduation in all geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
Applications are invited from qualified bonafide and registered Nigerian students from the catchment institutions for consideration for the award of scholarships to pursue first degree courses under:

  • Undergraduate candidates should be at least at the 200 level of their course of study at the time of completing the forms
  • The Registrar of their respective Universities must certify the candidates are truly indigent.

2018 Lagos State Postgraduate Scholarship

The Lagos State Scholarship Board is the agency in charge of scholarship, bursary and other related matters within the state. It grants Scholarship awards to deserving indigenes in various tertiary institutions for full time studies in order to assist these students financially.

Lagos State Postgraduate Scholarship Award Scheme 2018

 

Process for Eligibility for Local Postgraduate Scholarship Award 
This scholarship scheme is for Lagos State indigenes only studying in any tertiary institution across the country.
  • All applicants must have gained full time admission into an accredited Nigerian tertiary Institution for postgraduate studies (Masters or Doctorate).
  • All Post-graduate applicants:
    • Where CGPA scale is 7.0 (e.g University of Ibadan) he /she must have graduated with a minimum of 4.9/7.0 at undergraduate level
    • Where CGPA scale is 5.0 (e.g University of Lagos) he /she must have graduated a minimum of 3.5/5.0 at undergraduate level
  •  All applicants must be in their first year or above
  • All applicants must have completed LASRRA Registration
  • All applicants must have a signed letter of identification from their respective Oba
  • All applicants must have a signed letter of identification from their respective local government
  • All applicants must purchase a Scholarship application form. (Payment of N2,000.00 for Local Scholarship) through the Office of Special Adviser on Education, Block 5, 3rd Floor, Alausa Secretariat.
  • All applicants must upload clear scanned copies of all documents to ascertain the genuineness of their claims. Documents like:
    • Admission Letter
    • Valid ID Card
    • Letter of identification from Oba
    • Letter of identification from Local Government
    • SSCE result
    • Lagos State Resident Registration Agency(LASSRA) registration card
    • Passport Photograph (clear background not older than three months).
    • Certificate or Result statement from school stating graduating results clearly
    • NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate
    • Master’s Degree Certificate ( PHD applicants only)
  • Shortlisted applicant must participate in a Computer Based Test conducted by Dragnet Solutions Limited in conjunction with Lagos State Scholarship Board.

Applicant must be a Lagos State Indigene studying in any tertiary institutions across the country
All applicants are required to make a Payment of N2,000.00 for Local Scholarship through the Revenue Office of the Lagos State Scholarship Board.
Then take the payconfirmation receipt to the Lagos State Scholarship Board to secure their secret voucher pins for online application. Application will not be processed without evidence of consolidated payment confirmation slip.

Ensure you correctly fill in the application form and click on "Apply Now" button to complete your application.
Applications will be done through this portal only, hard copy applications will not be processed.

Short-listed candidates for the qualifying test will be invited by email and SMS text messages. All applicants are therefore advised to ensure that valid GSM telephone numbers and personal email addresses are properly entered into the e-forms on the portal.

2017 MTN Foundation Scholarship Scheme

The MTN Nigeria Foundation Limited by Guarantee (MTNF Ltd/Gte) was established by MTN Nigeria
Communications Limited in July 2004 to drive MTN Nigeria’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives aimed at improving the quality of lives in communities across the country.

MTN Nigeria Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship Scheme (8th Phase)

Project Description
  • Since inception of the Scheme, MTNF has invested N1,690,800,000 in the scholarships to date

  • 2nd or 3rd year full-time undergraduates in public universities and colleges of education studying other disciplines beside Law with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5.
  • 3rd year full time Law under-graduates in public University with CGPA of 2.5.
  • Full time Polytechnic under-graduates in ND 2, HND 2, with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 and with one of the following:
    • ND 1 result (for applicants currently in ND 2)
    • HND 1 result (for applicants currently in HND 2)
    • Admission letter into HND 1 with ND 2 result (for applicants currently in HND 1)

2018/2019 Czech Government Scholarships - Undergraduate, Masters and Doctorate

The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport offers five scholarships for developing countries. Applications for these scholarships are open to all students from developing countries and/or countries going through a process of political and economic transition.

 This scholarship is to be taken in Public Universities in Czech Republic

Eligible Programmes: Full-time Undergraduate, Masters and Doctorate


Eligible Fields: Economics, Agriculture, Informatics, Environment and Energetics at public universities in the Czech Republic.

These Government Scholarships are designed to cover the standard length of study plus one-year preparatory course of the Czech language(which is combined with other field-specific training).

Benefits of these Scholarships: 
  • The scholarship covers the necessary costs related to staying and studying in the Czech Republic. The scholarship amount is regularly amended.
  • Currently the amount paid to students on a Bachelor’s, Master’s or follow-up Master’s study programme stands at CZK 14,000 per month
  • Whereas the amount paid to students of a Doctoral study programme stands at CZK 15,000 per month.
The above scholarship amounts include an amount designated for the payment of accommodation costs. Costs of accommodation, food and public transport are covered by scholarship holders from the scholarship under the same conditions that apply to students who are citizens of the Czech Republic. Should health services exceeding standard care be required by the student, s/he shall cover them at his/her own cost.

2017 Lagos Business School (LBS) Young Talent Program

The LBS Young Talents’ Programme is offering a one-day opportunity to undergraduates who are in their final year university studies. M.Sc students and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members are also welcome.



The purpose of the one-day programme is to help the school establish an ongoing relationship with the brightest university students in the country prior to and after their graduation from the university. The primary objective of engaging with these talented students is to expose them to a world-class institution and short list suitable candidates for the LBS Management Scholarship Academy. We will also welcome candidates that could become future administrative staff and ultimately faculty members. This programme would help the school build a pipeline of bright academics for the African continent.

Type of Award: Short Courses/Training

Eligibility Criteria:
  • The candidate should not be above 30years old.
  • The programme is open to undergraduates, Masters and Youth Corp members
  • These students should be on a first class or second class upper.
  • Previous participants of the YTP are not eligible to apply again.

The David Oyedepo Foundation OneWorld Merit scholarship award is our major platform for promoting the Foundation’s vision and goals.

About DOF OneWorld Merit Scholarship
This course-specific scholarship, which grants New and Returning students the opportunity to study in select top-rated Nigerian universities seeks to develop youth leaders who are ready to put their learned skills to work in leading organizations, communities and their local countries. In addition to maintaining a high academic standard and demonstrating a commitment to continuous capacity development as leaders, students on this scholarship would be expected to carry out a community development project and would be expected to work in a social impact driven organization each summer for a 6-week period as a volunteer under standard work conditions.

Programs covered by the DOF OneWorld Merit Scholarship Award are:  Accounting, Agricultural And Biosystem Engineering, Animal Science, Applied Biology and Biotechnology, Architecture, Biochemistry, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Crop Science, Economics, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical And Information Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management, Information & Communications Technology,International Relations, Law, Mechanical/Civil Engineering, Medicine and Surgery, Microbiology, Nursing, Petroleum Engineering, Soil Science.

Eligibility: The scholarships are open to New and Returning Student categories who are citizens and residents of African Countries. The David Oyedepo Foundation OneWorld Merit Scholarship Award is open to Young Africans who:
  1. Are eligible to commence undergraduate studies in 2017.
  2. Are citizens and permanent residents of any African Nation
  3. Are eligible to receive a Nigerian student visa
  4. Are proficient in oral and written English
  5. New Student Application: Have a record of exceptional performance at the secondary school level which is benchmarked by:
    • a. At least 20 points above JAMB cut off points (for Nigerians only)
    • b. 80% recorded average or 4.0GPA/5.0 in Secondary/High School Transcript
    • c. 5 Distinction pass-grades (As and Bs) in Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examinations.
  6. New Student Application: Already have begun admission applications to Covenant or Landmark University (Scholarships would not be awarded until proof of admission to Landmark University is provided at the end of the competition).
  7. Returning Student Application: Have a record of exceptional performance which is benchmarked by:
    • 1 st Class CGPA (4.5 on a 5.0 scale) in recently concluded session for students in Covenant or Landmark Universities.
    • 2nd Class Upper CGPA (4.3 on a 5.0 scale) in recently concluded session for students in other universities.
  8. Are in good health.
Selection Criteria: Scholars must meet set DOF criteria in order for the scholarship to be renewed at the commencement of each new session.
  • Maintain 1st class CGPA at the end of each session.
  • Volunteer for 6 weeks in an organization committed to social impact during the long summer holiday.
  • Carry out a community development project each year which can occur at any time during the year but must be in the scholar’s local community.
  • Participate in “Books of the Summer” program.
  • Maintain a high standard of character in line with the University’s requirement throughout duration of study within and outside the school premises.

Win N50,000 in 2017 NWAG Scholarship for Female Undergraduates

In 2017, NWAG plans to award 37 one-time scholarships, one per state of origin as well as one for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in the amount of fifty thousand Naira (N50,000) each, to Nigerian female, undergraduate students in Nigerian universities.
Worth of Scholarship: Fifty thousand naira (N50,000) each
Requirements: An applicant must be a Nigerian female, undergraduate student in a Nigerian University. All applications must include the following:
  • Proof of State of Origin – Letter of Origination from the university or a letter from your local government office.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation from any two of the following: Church Pastor/Mosque Imam, Village Head, Local Government Chairperson or one of your Lecturers.
  • One Letter of Recommendation from either the Dean of your Faculty/School or your Head of Department.
  • Photocopy of your current university student identification card
  • A current photograph of yourself
  • An explanation of why you need and should receive the scholarship (not more than one-half typed double spaced page).
  • A type-written, double –spaced, two-page essay on:
 “How has the current inflation and its resultant high cost of living in Nigeria, affected the quality of education in Nigeria?”

Choice of Country for Beneficiaries to Study: Russia, China, Morocco, Turkey, Algeria, Romania, Serbia, Japan, Ukraine, Cuba, Greece, Czech Republic, Syria, Macedonia, Mexico, Egypt, Tunisia etc.

Accepted Subject Areas
  • Undergraduate level – Engineering, Geology, Agriculture, Sciences, Mathematics, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, Biotechnology, Architecture, Medicine (very limited), etc; and
  • Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and Ph.D) in all fields.
About the Federal Government Scholarship: The Honourable Minister of Education, is hereby inviting interested and qualified Nigerians to participate in the 2017/2018 Nomination Interview for Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Awards for:
  • Undergraduate (UG) studies tenable in Russia, Morocco, Algeria, Serbia, Hungary, Egypt, Turkey, Cuba, Romania, Ukraine, Japan, Macedonia; and
  • Postgraduate (PG) studies tenable in Russia (for those whose first degrees were obtained from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, e.t.c.
Eligibility Criteria

• Undergraduate Scholarship:
  • All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secoundary School Certificate, WAEC (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old (2015 & 2016).
  • Age limit is from 18 to 20 years.
• Postgraduate Scholarship:
  • All applicants must hold a First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division.
  • The applicants who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria.
  • All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C.
  • Age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D.
• Since the BEA countries are non-English speaking, applicants should be prepared to undertake a mandatory one year foreign languare of the country of choice which will be the standard medium of instruction; and
• All applicants for Hungarian Scholarship must visit the website: www.stipendumhungaricum.hu.

Application Deadline: The 2017/2018 BEA interviews are between Monday 13th February – Thursday 16th February 2017 across the six geopolitical zones. Candidates are advised to apply online before these dates.

BENEFITS
 The participating countries are responsible for the tuition and accommodation, while Nigeria government takes care of the following;

• $500 monthly for supplementation.
• $250 yearly for warm clothing.
• $200 yearly for Health Insurance.
• $500 yearly for medical scholars only.
• $1000 for PG research grant yearly were applicable.
• N100,000 – Take off for PG scholars were applicable
• N60,000 – Take off for UG scholars were applicable

  • One certificate is accepted i.e WAEC of May/June only; • Statement of results must be confirmed by WAEC and forwarded to the Director/Secretary, Federal Scholarship Board, Abuja;
  • Two copies of Birth certificate
  • State of Origin/LGA certificate duly signed, stamped and dated;
  • Four (4) passport sized coloured photographs on white background;
  • Academic transcripts and NYSC certificates will be required from applicants for Postgraduate Studies.
