2019/2020 Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Awards

FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION FEDERAL SCHOLARSHIP BOARD PLOT 245 SAMUEL ADEMULEGUN STREET CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT, ABUJA 2019/2020 FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS COMPUTER BASED TEST (CBT)

The Honourable Minister of Education (HME), Mallam Adamu Adamu, hereby invites interested and qualified Nigerians to participate in the 2019/2020 Nomination computer Based Test (CBT) for the Federal Government Scholarship Awards for

BILATERAL EDUCATION AGREEMENT (BEA)
i) Undergraduate (UG) studies tenable in Russia, Morocco, Algeria, Serbia, Hungary, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, Cuba, Romania, Ukraine, Japan, Macedonia; and
ii) Postgraduate (PG) studies tenable in Russia (for those whose first degrees were obtained from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, South Korea.
2.0 All qualified candidates are advised to:
a. Visit Federal Ministry of Education’s website www.education.gov.ng and click on READ MORE on Federal Scholarship Board ICON on the Home Page:
. b. Read Guidelines and then Complete the Application Form online
c. Print the completed Application Form
d. Submit two sets of the Printed Application Forms at the venue of the interview as scheduled below.
3.0 FIELDS OF STUDY
a. Undergraduate level – Engineering, Geology, Agriculture, Sciences, Mathematics, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, Biotechnology, Architecture, Medicine (very limited), etc; and
b. Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and Ph.D) in all fields.

Eligibility Requirements:
UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS:
All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificates, WAEC (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English Language and Mathematics. Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old (2017& 2018)for African countries the age of certificate is one year (2018) only. Age limit is from 18 to 20 years.

POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS:
All applicants for Undergraduate degree courses must hold a First Class (1st Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division. The applicants who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria. All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D. and only:
i) N.Y.S.C discharge or exemption certificates only are accepted;
RELATED:  TaiwanICDF’s International Higher Education Scholarship Program for study in Taiwan 2016
ii) Evidence of readiness to be released by employer.
NOTE (For all Applicants):
i) Since the BEA countries are non-English speaking, applicants should be prepared to undertake a mandatory one year foreign Languare course of the country of choice which will be the standard medium of instruction;
ii) Japan applicants must have very strong background in further mathematics;
iii) The required certificates for candidates applying for Iman Preachers and Quaranic Professor for Islamic Religious studies in Algeria is WAEC as in other scholarship awards;
iv) All applicants for Hungarian Scholarship can apply for up to two fields of study in order of preference; and
v) All applicants for Hungarian Scholarships must visit the website: www.stipendiumhungaricum.hu before 15th January, 2019.

Print the completed form and bring to the interview venue in addition to 2.0 above.
VENUE OF INTERVIEW:
All eligible applicants are to report for interview at the venues scheduled for accredidation a day to the date scheduled for examination. Two sets of completed application forms should be submitted at the various JAMB CBT centres with the following attachments:
i. Two sets of Photocopies of Educational Certificates and Testimonials of previous schools attended with the originals for sighting;
ii. Only one certificate is accepted i.e WAEC of May/June for
Undergraduate applicants;
iii. Two copies of Birth Certificate from National Population Commission;
iv. State of origin/LGA certificate duly signed, stamped and dated;
v. Four (4) coloured passport sized photographs on white background; and
vi. Postgraduate applicatns will be required to submit Academic transcripts and NYSC discharge or Excemption certificates only.
NB: Candidates nominated by the Board will be required to submit to Federal Scholarship Board the following:
i) Authenticated copies of academic certificates;
ii) Data page of current International passport; and
iii) Specified Medical Reports from Government hospitals.
iv) Police Clearance Certificate where necessary.

NIGERIA AWARD SCHOLARSHIP (NA) 2019/2020 FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS TENABLE IN NIGERIA TERTIARY INSTITUIONS FOR NA, SDG (SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS) FOR GIRLS ONLY

THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR NIGERIAN AWARD/SDG ARE AS FOLLOWS:
  • Applicants for Postgraduate studies should possess a minimum of first degree with Second Class Honours Upper Division. Applicant must be registered Full-Time students of Federal or State Universities.
  • All other applicants (UG, HND &NCE) must be registered full-time students in their second year or above in Federal or State Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education. All undergraduate Scholarship applicants (Physically challenged inclusive) must have at least 4.0 Cumulative Grade Points Aggregate (CGPA) on a five (5) point scale or its equivalents or 5.0 on a 7 point scale.


METHOD OF APPLICATION

i. Letter of Admission to the Institution
ii. Current Course Registration Form
iii. CGPA results of year 1, 2, 3, etc.

2018 Jim Ovia Scholarship

The Jim Ovia Scholarship was founded and funded by Mr. Jim Ovia since 1998, to provide financial aid to outstanding Nigeria youths. The scholarship was previously known as the MUSTE scholarship. The awardees are given funding for undergraduate study for the duration of the undergraduate program. The award includes tuition and maintenance allowance. The scheme offers an average of 100 opportunities every year. The Financial records show that as at October 2010, Mr. Ovia has invested 100 Million Naira in the program on 1500 beneficiaries.

In establishing the Jim Ovia Scholarship, Mr. Ovia hoped to create a network of future leaders within Nigeria who can compete globally with their peers, bring new ideas, creativity and are committed to improving the lives and circumstances of people in their respective communities. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of personal intellectual ability, leadership capability and a desire to use their knowledge to contribute to society throughout Nigeria by providing service to their community and applying their talent and knowledge to improve the lives of others. Over time it is expected that the Jim Ovia Scholarship beneficiaries will become leaders in helping to address challenges related to health, technology, and finance, all areas in which the foundation is deeply engaged.

Eligibility and Criteria

The scholarship is open to all undergraduate University students of Nigerian citizenship. One hundred (100) awardees are selected each year from a pool of eligible applicants. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of personal intellectual ability, leadership capability and a desire to contribute to society at large to improve the lives of others.

Scholarship covers tuition fees and upkeep allowances up to N150,000

2018/2019 NNPC/Total National Merit Scholarship

Annually, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria (TUCN), together with their venture partners, award scholarships to deserving Nigerian students in the tertiary institutions in the country.

The programme is aimed at promoting academic excellence and quality manpower development in the Country. This is one of the many ways TOTAL demonstrates its commitment to the educational development of Nigerian students. It is a part of TOTAL’s rich Corporate Social Responsibility.

Eligibility Criteria
  1. Be a Registered FULL TIME undergraduate in a recognized Nigerian University
  2. Be a certified 100 or 200 level student at the time of application
  3. Show proof of SSCE or Equivalent Certificate.
  4. Show proof of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) score.
  5. Show proof of Admission letter from the University and Matriculation Number
  6. Show proof of A-level or Equivalent Certificate (for direct entry students)
PLEASE NOTE:
  • Students with less than 200 score in UTME need not apply
  • Students with less than 2.50 CGPA of 5-point scale, or equivalent
  • 300 level students and above need not apply
  • Current beneficiaries of similar awards from any other Company or Government Agency need not apply

2. Contact Information: Enter your email and mobile phone information. Only use an active email and mobile phone number.
3. Origin: Enter your state and local government of origin data. You are required to upload a certificate or proof of origin from your local government or state.
4. University Information: Select your university, course and year of study. You will be required to upload your JAMB/University admission letter.
5. Result Information: Input your JAMB score or CPGA. You are required to upload your JAMB statement of result and university CPGA. For year two medical students, your JAMB score suffices.
6. Review Application: Review your application ensure all fields have been correctly entered. Upload all the documents required:
  • Recent Passport Photograph
  • Certificate or Proof of Origin
  • Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (SSCE)
  • UTME result
  • JAMB/University Admission Letter
  • 1st Year Result showing CGPA

2018/2019 Petroleum Technology Develpment Fund (PTDF) Scholarship for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Awards


The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is the Federal Government agency with the mandate of developing indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry. The Fund hereby invites applications from qualified Nigerians to apply for the 2018/19 Undergraduate, Masters and PhD scholarships for students in Nigerian Federal Universities.

Method of application 
Online application form can be accessed from the application website, www.ptdf.gov.ng at no cost to applicants. Instructions on how to access the online form is stated on the PTDF website. Applicants are advised to read through the requirements before applying. To start the application process, applicants are required to key-in their email address and select a password for a pin to be generated. The generated pin would enable applicants to access the form and complete their bio data.

APPLICANTS ARE TO PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
Application is restricted to Federal Universities only
  • Possession of valid admission letter into the University is compulsory for all applicants
  • Postgraduate applicant’s admission letter should be within a validity period of 12 months
  • Postgraduate applicants who meet the requirements shall be shortlisted for interviews before final selection of successful candidates
  • Undergraduate applicants must have completed their first year and are currently in their second year of studies
  • Only undergraduate applicants undertaking studies in oil and gas related fields will be considered and the final selection shall be based on the grades on their transcripts
  • Admission for part-time studies shall not be considered for all category of applications
  • The scholarship is highly competitive and merit driven. Selection of candidates shall be based on equitable representation of the 36 States of the Federation and Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
CRITERIA, REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION PROCESS FOR LSS POST GRADUATE:
A selection panel will be constituted to assess applications using the following criteria;
  • Academic merit as evidenced by quality of degrees, full academic transcripts, other professional qualifications acquired and relevant publications to be referenced by applicants
  • Membership of professional bodies
  • The viability of the study/research plan (PhD applicants only)
  • All applicants are required to make a case for their scholarship by submitting a statement of purpose stating the reason(s) they wish to undertake the study, the relevance of the proposed study to the industry and its expected impact on national development
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
A). (LSS) Undergraduate:
  • Applicants must be full time students in any of the Federal Universities
  • Applicants must be in their second year of study
  • Course of study should be related to oil and gas industry
  • Students must have been admitted into the University in 2017/18 academic year only
  • Possess 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO including English Language and Mathematics
  • Possess a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on scale of 5 or 3.0 on a scale of 4 which is equivalent to 2.1 in the first year for the 2017/18 batch of students
  • Applicants should provide their transcripts for the first year of study
Undergraduate applicants who meet the above requirements are to upload the following documents:
  • Evidence of statement of WAEC/SSCE/NECO results with at least 5 credits, including English Language and Mathematics
  • Letter of admission into the University
  • First year academic transcript(s)
  • Evidence of state of origin and local government
  • Personal statement of a minimum of 100 words stating reasons for undertaking the course of study
  • Recent passport photograph
B). (LSS) MSc. (Requirements for application):
  • Applicants must possess full time admission letter into any of the Federal Universities
  • A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an oil and gas related field or a 2.2 with a minimum working experience of 2 years in the oil and gas industry;
  • Possess at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results;
  • National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or Letter of exemption;
  • Applicants must be computer literate;
  • Letter of admission into the University;
  • Academic transcript;
  • Evidence of state of origin and local government;
  • Personal statement of a minimum of 1000 words stating reasons for undertaking the course of study;
  • Recent passport photograph
C). PhD (LSS) (Requirements for application):
  • Applicants must possess full time admission letter into any of the Federal Universities
  • A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field or a 2.2 with a minimum working experience of 2 years in the oil and gas industry;
  • Possess at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results,
  • National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or Letter of exemption;
  • Applicants must be computer literate;
  • A minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and a minimum of merit as a second degree certificate in an oil and gas related discipline;
  • Valid admission letter of not more than one year;
  • Academic transcripts;
  • Evidence of state of origin and local government;
  • Research area must be relevant to the oil and gas industry;
  • PhD research proposal of not more than 6 pages to include topic, introduction, literature review, research question(s), novelty, methodology, mode of data collection(s), expected outcome(s), relevance to the industry and appropriate references
  • Recent passport photograph

  • Participation in RB Global Challenge 2018 is free and open to fresh graduates from all parts of Nigeria.

Rules of Participation
  • Form a team of 2-3 members and collectively select your team captain. Once selected, the team composition or captain cannot be changed
  • Once shortlisted, you will be invited to present your idea to a panel of evaluators at the RB Nigeria office.
  • Winning teams will get to present their idea and plan to the RB Nigeria leadership team at the National round.
  • Winners of the national round will be named the RB Global Challenge Nigeria Champions and will go on for the international finals.

Description
  • The award is for 20 (twenty) students, each of whom will receive One hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) making a total sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000.00).
Criteria for Award
  • Applicants must be poor and indigent.
  • Applicants must be registered students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria i.e Universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
  • Applicants must have good academic performance.
Award Ceremony
  • Successful candidates will be awarded the Scholarship on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Nigerian Law Publications House, Otunba Jobi Fele- Way, C.B.D., Alausa Ikeja, Lagos at 12.00 Noon.

INTRODUCTION


As part of our Human Resource Development initiatives, the NDDC is embarking on Foreign Post Graduate Scholarship Programme to equip Niger Deltans with relevant training and skills for effective participation in the Local content programme of the current Administration as well as compete globally in various professional fields. The scheme is for suitably qualified applicants with relevant Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree from recognized Universities in the following professional disciplines:

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

1.     First degree with minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division for those wishing to undertake a Master’s Degree programme and a good Master’s Degree for PhD candidates from a recognized University.

2.    Applicants must have gained admission for a Post Graduate Programme in any of the listed disciplines above, in a foreign University.

3.    Applicants who have already enrolled in Overseas’ Universities are NOT eligible to apply.

4.    Guarantor’s written consent of good conduct of the applicant from any of the following persons from the applicant’s community/clan.
  • Member of National Assembly/State House of Assembly
  • Chairman of the LGA
  • First Class Traditional Ruler
  • High Court Judge

5      Persons with evidence of cult membership or criminal record shall not be considered for the award.

6     Applicants must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC).

2017/2018 NAOC TERTIARY SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME: APPLICATION / EXAMINATION

The Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited (NAOC) Joint Venture in pursuance of its Corporate Social Responsibility invites suitably qualified applicants for its 2017/2018 Session Tertiary Scholarship Scheme, effective from 17th to 30th April, 2018.

Category of Awards
  • Host Communities Merit Award – For applicants strictly from NAOC Host Communities
  • National Merit Award – For applicants from Non-Host communities
To qualify for consideration, applicants MUST be:
  • Registered Full TIME undergraduates in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions
  • Certified 100 level students at the time of application (Only students admitted in 2017/2018 academic session)
NOTE: The following categories of students should not apply:
  • 200 level students and above
  • Current beneficiaries of similar Awards from other Companies and Agencies
  • Dependants of NAOC/NAE/AENR/NACPFA
VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP: Between $60,000 and $69,000 depending on course of study

Only Indigenes of NAOC Host Communities in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Imo States SHOULD apply for the Host Communities Merit Award.
Only applicants studying Engineering, Geology, Geosciences and Agricultural Science are eligible for the National Merit Award.

Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program - Teach Yoruba or Hausa in American Universities

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Abuja invites applications from qualified Nigerians wishing to teach Hausa or Yoruba languages and cultures to American students in U.S. universities and colleges.
The Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program is a nine month non-degree course funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education. The objective of the program is to strengthen foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges, universities, and some high schools, while providing future teachers from abroad the opportunity to refine their skills, increase their English language proficiency, and expand their knowledge of U.S. society and culture.  FLTA fellows must return to their home countries upon completion of their programs to teach English at the secondary or university level.
All applications must meet the following criteria:
  • Applications must be completed and submitted online.
  • Applicants should request that the academic office of their institution send a stamped copy of their transcripts in a sealed envelope to: The Public Affairs Section, U.S. Embassy, Plot 1075 Diplomatic Drive, Central Area, Abuja, Attention: Cultural Affairs Officer.
  • Other documents to be submitted include academic credentials, signed and stamped letters of reference, and the photo page of a valid Nigerian passport.

The Honourable Minister of Education (HME), Mallam Adamu Adamu, hereby invites interested and qualified Nigerians to participate in the 2018/2019 Nomination Interview for Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Award for:

i)     Undergraduate (UG) studies tenable in Russia, Morocco, Algeria, Serbia, Hungary, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, Cuba,

Romania, Ukraine, Japan, Macedonia; and

ii)   Postgraduate (PG) studies tenable in Russia (for those whose first degrees were obtained from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, e.t.c.

         All qualified candidates are advised to:

         FIELDS OF STUDY

4.0 CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

A.     UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification  of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secoundary School Certificates, WAEC (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English Language and Mathematics. Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old (2016 & 2017). Age limit is from 18 to 20 years.

B.         POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants for Undergraduate degree courses must hold a First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division. The applicants  who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria. All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D. and only:
i N.Y.S.C discharge or exemption certificates only are accepted;
ii) Evidence of readiness to be released by employer.

NOTE (For all Applicants):

i)    Since the BEA countries are non-English speaking, applicants should be prepared to undertake a mandatory one year foreign Languare course of the country of choice which will be the standard medium of instruction; and
ii)   All applicants for Hungarian Scholarships must visit the official website before 15th February, 2018.

·         Print the completed form and bring to the interview venue in addition to 2.0 above.

VENUE OF INTERVIEW: All eligible applicants are to report for interview at the venues scheduled for their respective Zones of origin for proper identification. Two sets of completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centres with the following attachments:


i.            Two sets of Photocopies of Educational Certificates and Testimonials of previous schools attended with the originals for sighting;
ii.           Only one certificate is accepted i.e WAEC of May/June for Undergraduate applicants;
iii.         Two copies of Birth Certificate from National Population Commission;
iv.         State of origin/LGA certificate duly signed, stamped and dated;
v.           Four (4) coloured passport sized photographs on white background; and
