2018/2019 Federal Government BEA Scholarship


FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION FEDERAL SCHOLARSHIP BOARD

2018/2019 BILATERAL EDUCATION AGREEMENT (BEA) SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS INTERVIEW


The Honourable Minister of Education (HME), Mallam Adamu Adamu, hereby invites interested and qualified Nigerians to participate in the 2018/2019 Nomination Interview for Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Award for:

i)     Undergraduate (UG) studies tenable in Russia, Morocco, Algeria, Serbia, Hungary, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, Cuba,

Romania, Ukraine, Japan, Macedonia; and

ii)   Postgraduate (PG) studies tenable in Russia (for those whose first degrees were obtained from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, e.t.c.

         All qualified candidates are advised to:
a.  Visit Federal Ministry of Education’s WEBSITE (here) and click on READ MORE on Federal Scholarship Board ICON on the Home Page:
. b. Read Guidelines and then Complete the Application Form online
c.  Print the completed Application Form
d.   Submit two sets of the Printed Application Forms at the venue  of the interview as scheduled below.

NOTE/Warning: Double Entries will be disqualified!

         FIELDS OF STUDY
a.     Undergraduate level - Engineering, Geology, Agriculture, Sciences, Mathematics, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, Biotechnology, Architecture, Medicine (very limited), etc; and

b.   Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and Ph.D) in all fields.

4.0 CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

A.     UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification  of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secoundary School Certificates, WAEC (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English Language and Mathematics. Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old (2016 & 2017). Age limit is from 18 to 20 years.

B.         POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants for Undergraduate degree courses must hold a First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division. The applicants  who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria. All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D. and only:
i N.Y.S.C discharge or exemption certificates only are accepted;
ii) Evidence of readiness to be released by employer.

NOTE (For all Applicants):

i)    Since the BEA countries are non-English speaking, applicants should be prepared to undertake a mandatory one year foreign Languare course of the country of choice which will be the standard medium of instruction; and
ii)   All applicants for Hungarian Scholarships must visit the official website before 15th February, 2018.
·         Complete the application form online
·         Print the completed form and bring to the interview venue in addition to 2.0 above.

VENUE OF INTERVIEW: All eligible applicants are to report for interview at the venues scheduled for their respective Zones of origin for proper identification. Two sets of completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centres with the following attachments:


i.            Two sets of Photocopies of Educational Certificates and Testimonials of previous schools attended with the originals for sighting;
ii.           Only one certificate is accepted i.e WAEC of May/June for Undergraduate applicants;
iii.         Two copies of Birth Certificate from National Population Commission;
iv.         State of origin/LGA certificate duly signed, stamped and dated;
v.           Four (4) coloured passport sized photographs on white background; and
vi.         Postgraduate applicatns will be required to submit Academic transcripts and NYSC discharge or Excemption certificates only.

2018/2019 PTDF Scholarships for Masters & PhD in Nigeria & Overseas

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), the Federal Government agency with the mandate of developing indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for Overseas MSc and PhD Scholarships to institutions under its strategic partnership initiative. Successful candidates will be awarded scholarships to study in Germany/France/China commencing in the 2018/2019 academic session.

Eligible Fields of Study: Mainly engineering, technology and engineering management courses

Type of Study: Full-time Masters and PhD

About PTDF Scholarship: 
The Strategic Partnership Scholarship was developed to improve the Funds’ Overseas Scholarship Scheme by offering candidates the opportunity to benefit from a diversified pool of knowledge and the facilities offered by world-class institutions across the globe.
In recognition of the fact that the best education can be found on numerous shores, the Fund has sought out strategic partnerships in Germany, France and China where candidates are offered the opportunity to study in English-taught classes and conduct research in world-class facilities where they will also have the opportunity of experiencing new cultures and work environments.
Under this scheme, candidates are invited to apply through PTDF to specific programmes at the partner institutions in any of the three countries (full list of sponsored courses is available below). The award includes the provision of flight tickets, payment of health insurance, payment of tuition and bench fees (where applicable) as well as the provision of allowances to meet the costs of accommodation and living expenses. The programmes will also include language classes to aid scholars settle into their new environments.

Please note that the Fund will be responsible for obtaining admissions for the candidates to their selected programmes.

Selection Criteria and Eligibility: PTDF scholarships are highly competitive and only candidates who are outstanding across the board are selected. A selection committee will be constituted to assess applications using the following criteria;
  • Academic merit as evidenced by quality of degrees, full academic transcripts, other professional qualifications acquired, and relevant publications to be referenced by applicant (PhD applicants only)
  • Membership of professional bodies
  • The viability of the study/research plan.
  • Applicants are required to make a case for their scholarship by submitting a statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) stating the reason(s) they want to undertake the study, the relevance of the proposed study to the industry and its expected impact on national development.
Requirements
  1. MSc
  2. A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) qualification in their first degree or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience
  3. Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
  4. Must be computer literate
  5. Possession of 5 O/level credits including English Language.

  1. PhD
  2. Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
  3. Must be computer literate
  4. A minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in their first degree and a good second degree certificate;
  5. Must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection;
  6. Applicants must also include their masters degree project

2018/2019 Government of ​Brunei Darussalam Scholarships for Foreign Students

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is pleased to invite applications for the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship under the above Scholarship Award Scheme for the 2018/2019 academic session.
Tenable in Brunei Darussalam, the scholarship award provides applicants with the opportunity to study at any one of the following institutions of higher education:
  • · Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD),
  • · Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA),
  • · Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and
  • · Politeknik Brunei (PB).

The academic year commences July/August 2018.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Applications are open to citizens of, but not limited to, ASEAN, Commonwealth and OIC member countries.
  • Applicants should be nominated by their Government.
  • Applicants must be certified to be medically fit to undertake the scholarship and to study in Brunei Darussalam, by a qualified medical practitioner who is registered with any Government Authority(ies) prior to arrival in Brunei Darussalam. Any and all costs incurred in obtaining this certification are to be borne by the applicant.
  • Applicants must be, between the ages of 18-25 for undergraduate and diploma programmes and must not exceed the age of 35 for postgraduate programmes on the 31st July 2018.
  • The award is NOT eligible to Brunei Darussalam Permanent Residents.

Worth of Scholarship:
The scholarship recipient will be facilitated with the benefits of the scholarship as follows:
i) exemption from paying tuition fees including acceptance, examination, registration and orientation fees for the duration of the programme;
ii) an economy class air-ticket to Brunei Darussalam from the scholarship recipient’s country of origin/ country of domicile prior to the commencement of the course and an economy class air-ticket from Brunei Darussalam to the scholarship recipient’s country of origin/country of domicile upon completion of the course;
iii) a monthly personal allowance of BND$500.00;
iv) a monthly meals allowance of BND$150.00;
v) an annual book allowance of BND$600.00;
vi) accommodation at the residential college of the University/ Polytechnic;
vii) baggage allowance for shipment of the scholarship recipient’s personal effects to his country of origin/country of domicile upon completion of the programme, at a maximum amount of:
· BND$250.00 to a country within the ASEAN region; or
· BND$500.00 to a country outside the ASEAN region;
viii) comprehensive insurance cover for the whole duration of the Scholarship. The scholarship recipient is urged to obtain additional insurance prior to his travel to Brunei Darussalam and for the whole duration of the Scholarship at his own expense.

Application forms must be duly completed and endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the National Focal Point for scholarships of the applicant’s country.
Applicants are required to also submit a security clearance statement from their National Security Agency(ies)/ Police Station (i.e. a statement/ report certifying that applicants are clear from any civil and criminal charges).
